Jury Judgement:
"The jury believes that the social impact of this innovative concept is very large. DC (direct current) is a very promising solution for the gigantic sustainable energy challenges. The advantages of DC are seen worldwide in the electrification tasks that we face in the coming decades.
The jury is impressed by the enthusiasm to come up with the technical solutions that are needed to make the transition to DC and thereby through cooperation in the Netherlands get the entire world in agreement. ABN-AMRO's Circl is one of the first buildings with DC in the Netherlands. Expo 2022 Floriade Almere is also about to apply it.
What the jury regards as very strong is that Direct Current BV, Mr Stokman, uses standardisation in the international playing field to further the innovation worldwide. DC has the potential to become a compatible system worldwide. The Netherlands has become a global leader in DC thanks to the effort of Direct Current BV."

19-09-2018 Harry Stokman has been awarded the 1906 Award by the IEC as a recognition for his dedication to further LVDC.
"In recognition of his dedication to furthering LVDC technologies for developed and developing economies. His amiable style, depth of technical expertise, breadth of experience and friendly approach make him an ideal member and leader in LVDC standards development." - noted by the IEC.
Every year the IEC honours exceptional contributions of individuals with an Award. The 1906 Award Recognizes exceptional current achievements of experts. The 1906 Award was created in 2004 by the IEC Executive Committee (ExCo) to commemorate the IEC's year of foundation and to honour IEC experts around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC. The Award also recognizes exceptional and recent achievement - a project or other specific contribution - related to the activities of the IEC and which contributes in a significant way to advancing the work of the Commission.

The jury's comment on the Green Deal Direct Current Haarlemmermeer:
"A Green Deal showing guts. Moreover, it is a deal with vision, because in a world where AC prevails, it shows courage to put DC on the map. Through collaboration a lot has been achieved. The Netherlands has become a leading country, worldwide, in the field of DC; the developed case studies are widely used and provide the ability to scale up."
Jury chair Monika Milz (see photo) adds: "It is a unique initiative based on a real breakthrough system. A small company accomplished the formation of a strong coalition and good results have been achieved that score wide on sustainability gains."
